Self-Portait

Image
Artist statement: I choose to do my self portrait project on a social movement striving for equality. I decided to incorporate two different races into my face depicting that everyone is equal no matter what skin color you are. I had fun messing around with the different tools and figuring out stuff as I went on felt really rewarding. I will definitely keep playing around with Adobe Illustrator and really enjoyed this assignment. The hardest part for me was getting the lines connected and outlining my hair precisely as well as figuring out how to use two colors for one letter. Selfie: Self-Portrait Propaganda: Self-Portait:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3GzumUieDPY I found the star tool to be interesting on how to make the star bigger and smaller using the up and down arrow buttons. My question is whats the difference between the selection tool and the direct selection tool. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zDbk3-Fm0gc What is outline mode and when should we be using it? In the video they outlined balloons in order to only show the strokes or borders of the artwork. I thought that was interesting and am curious to know what situations I would utilize that method. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q_WusxJCiEM This video shows how to use effects including "specified steps" which blends text and images together. In the video they used the warp tool to create a "dripping" effect to your art work.
